I was walking on the beach one day and I had a thought while I was looking at my feet. I was thinking how much I loved looking at the waves splashing on my feet. I then ran up to grab my phone and started shooting away. I loved seeing the waves slowly run against the tan sand, but I also love how the colors changed from a dark blue to a light green and then white waves. As soon as I got home I knew I needed to paint these waves close up. The first painting, which is mostly brown and white, was created with a wave on one canvas but I didn't want to stop there. I needed to add another canvas to continue the wave. I really love the connecting two canvases! The second close up wave that is mostly blue at the top, is probably one of my all time favorite paintings. You can see the time lapse video below of this painting. I started by mixing light, dark, and blue green waves. I then added the light green below those waves. The white/yellow crashing wave finishes off the painting, and is a nice contrasting color against the tan sand. I really love how these two paintings turned out and I think I like them more that the far away beach paintings. I have the original paintings, prints, pillows, and I even made beach bags from these designs! Take a look on my Esty page if your interested. Next time you go to the beach, take a look at the beach waves at your feet and see how beautiful it is.
